Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tanju Bilgiç, in Response to a Question Regarding the Change in Visa Regime for Iraq

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Dışişleri Bakanlığı 06.02.2016

QA-6, 6 February 2016

Iraqi and Turkish citizens are already reciprocally subject to visa. We have only introduced certain changes to the existing visa regime. These changes have been made in accordance with Turkey's resolute fight against irregular migration.

The Iraqi citizens will continue to benefit from e-Visa and will be required to have valid Schengen, USA, United Kingdom and Ireland visa/residence permit to be granted e-Visa. The Iraqi citizens who do not meet these conditions may apply for visa via http://www.visa.gov.tr and then enter Turkey with the visa granted by Turkey's diplomatic missions.

Likewise, entries from Şırnak/Habur Land Border Crossing Point will be allowed with visas to be obtained from Turkey's diplomatic missions.

Obtaining visas at the border will not be possible anymore with this new practice.
